As time goes on the world seems so fantastical in so many ways but there are also so many ways for humans to hate and harm without reason.

I can't tell if I'm seeing more of it as I grow because the world is getting worse or if it's just my eyes adjusting to the bright lights in this world that make the shadows seem all the darker.

I want to be that fresh eyed babe once again staring at the light and feeling nothing but love. But I know that cannot be. For now I am older and I can see beyond the light to those who are trying to blot so much of it out.

I feel like this may come across as some edgy attempt at being poetic and maybe it is. But I just want people to behave like they do in those storybooks from when I was little. Kind and accepting. Gentle and happy.

Is it really too much to ask that people forget past slights and see other human beings as mirrors and reflections of one another? We're all human, we're all a little broken, we've all made mistakes, we've all been lead astray at times.

Idk if this post will ever see the light of day or forever be saved in my drafts but if by some will it does get posted. Take a moment to look at someone or something you hate ans ask yourself "why?" "Why do I hate this?" "Why am I scared of this" "what happened to make me feel this way" and maybe just maybe you can find a way to see the good in things again.

When I was little I was scared of the dark. What kid isn't right? An empty abyss filled with endless evil possibilities. But at one point I stopped and reorientated my view. What if the abyss staring back at me didn't want to hurt me? What if in the dark there were monsters but none that wanted to hurt you, only monsters that were just as scared of the light as I was of the dark because of the scary humans that drove them into it to begin with. And I imagined them those shapes in the corner of my eye wasn't a creature stalking prey but something that was scared and needed a friend. I spoke to the air with polite little nothing's and it made me feel more comfortable. Little "I hope you had a good day"s "enjoy your night"s "thank you"s.

Tying that anecdote back into loving other people why can't we look into the perceived abyss that exists within the people we're scared of or don't like and imagine what they're hiding from what pushed them to hide away in the dark inside themselves.

I'm tired but I think I've made A point...

Oh but don't be afraid to punch a Nazi in the face. Everyone is deserving of sympathy until you're actively trying to exterminate swaths of other humans. It's not always enough to just not hate, sometimes you have to actively be anti-hate.
